Welcome to IS2WeB -
On October 30, 2007, project "IS2WEB - Extending Information Society Networks to the Western Balkan Countries", funded by the European Commission's IST priority of the 6th Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP 6) finished after 30 months duration.
The principal aim of IS2WEB was to assist suitable research organisations in the Western Balkan countries to get informed about and actively participate in research funded by the European Commission in the field of Information Society Technologies (IST).
According to the European Commission assessment the project has made a very significant impact on the Western Balkan IST RTD community, and a quantifiable impact on their involvement in the IST RTD programme.
Project Results
During the lifetime of the IS2WEB project, the organisations listed in the IS2WEB online directory shared among them 114 participations in 79 different proposals submitted to 16 different calls. 39 proposals involving 71 regional participants from among the IS2WEB target group where submitted in the last two ICT calls (FP6-6 and FP7-1). Out of these, five proposals (involving nine target organisations) have been retained for funding.
The participation profile has also changed. The IS2WEB target organisations became much more involved in research collaboration with EU organisations. They seem to be much more active than in the past and showed a greater confidence to take on more prominent roles in consortia. For more information about this, please refer to the Analysis of the participation of the IS2WEB target group in the 6th IST Call and the Analysis of the participation of the IS2WEB target group in the first calls of the 7th Framework Programme.
Further Support
The IS2WEB consortium will continue its support for Western Balkan research organisations in the frame of the SCORE project, which aims to contribute to the shaping of EU ICT research policy in the region, in a way that meets the interests and actual needs of regional ICT stakeholders.
